What databanking.org is for, what it isn't, and who stands behind it.
databanking.org exists to promote the Databanking proposal: a regulated custodial model for personal information, set out in the whitepaper linked throughout this site. The site's job is to make that proposal easier to engage with than the paper alone allows. It also carries technical detail that didn't fit the whitepaper's deliberately concise scope, and will include a forthcoming Technical Architecture Paper.
This is not a product, a company, or a service you can sign up for. No Databank exists yet; nothing here collects, stores, or processes anyone's personal data. The site is advocacy and explanation for an idea, not an offering.
There is no formal organisation behind Databanking at the time of writing — no company, foundation, or nonprofit. databanking.org is, in effect, the "organisation": the proposal's author publishes and maintains the whitepaper and this site directly. If that changes — if a formal body is ever set up to take the proposal further — this page will say so.
This site has no affiliation with databanking.com or any other domain variant using the word "databanking" — only with databanking.co.uk, which redirects here.
The whitepaper and the pages on this site represent a proposal, not enacted law or an existing system. Where they describe what a Databank "would" do, that is a design intent, not a guarantee about any system that currently exists. Known gaps and unfinished work are tracked internally rather than presented as resolved; absence of caveats on a given page isn't a claim that every detail is fully settled.
